Things I do outside of writing code.

Film photography

I shoot film and run AvoidXray, a community platform for analog photographers. My main cameras are a Canon AE-1 Program, a Snapic A1, and a Lomography Sprocket Rocket 35mm Panoramic Camera. I post my photos at avoidxray.com/zigaowang.

Music

I play saxophone in my school's jazz band. I also have an Akai MPK Mini 4 and I'm learning live looping with it. I also spin vinyl on my Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBTa turntable.

Running and fitness

I like to run, with some weight training and basketball mixed in.

Drama

I act in school productions. In 2025 I performed as a lead at the Edinburgh Fringe and got a 4-star review. Currently studying IGCSE Drama at school.

Building things

I ship iOS apps and web projects (see the projects list on the homepage). I also help organize AdventureX, China's largest student hackathon.

Reading

Recently read: To Live by Yu Hua and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Other favorites: The Cold Start Problem by Andrew Chen, Zero to One by Peter Thiel, The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick. I write reviews on my blog when a book is worth thinking about properly.
